Q:  When is the Florida Building Code updated?


A:  The Florida Building Code is updated on a triennial code development cycle, meaning there is a new edition of the Florida Building Code (FBC) published every three years. The 2020 (7th Edition) FBC took effect on December 31, 2020. the next building code will be the 2023 (8th Edition) FBC and will take effect on December 31, 2023. The Florida Building Code development cycle for the 2023 code is already underway.
