Sarasota Post: Sarasota Association Raises $46,500 for Bahamas Relief Fund

The Florida Swimming Pool Association (FSPA) raised $46,500 in just under a week span to deal with the humanitarian crisis in the Bahamas.

All donations to this fund were matched dollar-for-dollar by The Bill Kent Family Foundation. In addition, FSPA matched $5,000 of donations from its members.

Winners of the 42nd Annual FSPA High School Invitational Swimming and Diving Meet

 

(SARASOTA, Fla.) Oct 1, 2019 – The Florida Swimming Pool Association (FSPA) hosted its 42nd Annual High School Invitational Swimming and Diving Meet on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Sailfish Splash Aquatic Athletics Center in Stuart, Florida. Over 900 student athletes from 37 high schools across the state participated in the meet this year.

Awards were given to the top three male and female teams and top three overall schools. Male top overall included Oviedo High School in first place, Creekside High School in second place and Doral Prep in third place. Female top overall included Oviedo High School in first place, Creekside High School in second place and Jupiter High School in third place. The top three finishers in the combined team score category included Oviedo High School in first place followed by Creekside High School in second place and Jupiter High School in third place.

“We were thrilled to host the 42nd FSPA Swimming and Diving High School Invitational at the Sailfish Splash Waterpark and are very impressed with the outstanding athletic ability of the participants,” said FSPA Executive Director Wendy Parker Barsell. “The FSPA highly values student athletes and looks forward to hosting this invitational for years to come.”

The FSPA High School Invitational Swimming and Diving Meet is presented by the Florida Swimming Pool Association to benefit the Swimming Pool Education and Safety Foundation.  Support from the swimming pool industry through volunteers and sponsorships helps to make this one of the most exciting and fulfilling events the FSPA supports. 

The Florida Swimming Pool Association is a trade association for the pool and spa industry in Florida. There are approximately 700 member businesses in 16 Chapters across the state. Members are required to abide by a code of ethics and to be properly licensed and insured. FSPA provides the industry with access to continuing education courses, information on current trends and issues, an arbitration program, and government relations representation. FSPA is governed by a Board of Directors.
